THE PERIODIC TABLE

History

The table is the product of a large number of scientists. Most worked at the numerical progression of atomic weights.

John Newlands, in 1865, found that properties were repeated after each series of eight elements (Law Of Octaves).

MENDELEEV created his periodic system in one day by puzzling over CARDS containing 63 known elements with chemical and physical properties and atomic weights.

He arranged the periods so that SIMILAR elements came UNDER one another. He brought out the periodic relations clearly.

Mosely (1913) determined the atomic numbers of elements.
